Book Early

A lot of people are waiting until the very last minute to book their trips this year – so if you book early you may be able to get a really good deal. Some airlines have extended their special offers on cheap seats through the end of November, but don’t wait. As the holiday season approaches prices increase every day we get closer to the holidays.

Don’t Miss Your Flight

This goes without saying, but make sure you plan ahead and do everything possible to not miss your flight. If you do miss your flight, don’t count on the airlines being able to help you get do your destination. Airlines have a policy of overbooking their flights and around the holiday season the airlines will overbook popular flights by as much 10%. This means that if you do miss your flight, you will not be the only person trying to find alternate transportation to your destination.

Don’t No-Show at Your Hotel

Again, this should go without saying. Hotels, just like the airlines, will tend to overbook for the holiday season. Statistically some people won’t show up. Some may have taken ill and other simply turned up late for their flight and never make it to their destination. The best thing to do, if you know you are going to be late arriving at your hotel is to call ahead, which brings us to…

Carry Your Cell Phone

Google has been kind enough to offer free Wi-Fi on all United States national air travel this holiday season, so even in the air you can stay connected. If you are going to be late arriving at your hotel, call ahead and confirm your late arrival to be sure to have a hotel room – or you might find yourself in a bit of a pickle.

Best Way of Avoiding a Bad Holiday Experience

When you want to avoid a bad holiday experience, then the best way is to just stay home. Traveling you will always run the risk of things not going according to plan, and this is especially true during the holiday season. The best thing you can do is plan ahead and be prepared. Have a backup plan in case things go wrong and stay informed. Do not make last minute changes to your plans and stick to your guns. It might take you a little longer to reach your destination, but if you did it right you will get there eventually.

Happy Holidays!
